A non-governmental organisation known as Conference 0f Civil Society of Nigeria has commended the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its pro activeness in addressing the challenges of the north east through resettlement, rehabilitation and reintegration.
The north east region for some time now has been faced with challenges of insurgency, terrorism attacks, ecological problems which has rendered many homeless. The North East Development Commission has however take up the responsibility of ensuring that affected people get a new life through resettlement and re-integration.
Addressing Journalists at a news conference in Abuja, the Chairperson of the civil society group, Adams Otakwu said the management of NEDC is living up to expectation.
According to him, the commendation is informed by findings from an independent assessment exercise initiated by the group on the activities of the commission.
“The profound commitment of the NEDC under the uncommon leadership of the managing director, Alh Mohammed Alkali to development of the North-East region of Nigeria, has stood the commission out clearly amongst her peers as a National reference” he stressed.
Otakwu added that his group will continue to play its role as watch dog of the society especially in monitoring and accessing government agencies in efforts to encourage greater performance and probity.
