Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) in Nigeria announced that it is embarking on an industrial action starting from Wednesday September 2 following the neglect by the federal government.

National President of Union Nuhu Ogirima  announced the decision at press conference in Abuja.

The Chairman alleged the Nigerian government have failed the Country’s education sector with issues of deduction of staff salaries, contravention of the colleges of education laws, insecurity among others.

COEASU said many of the issues that will make for better learning and Infrastructure in schools have been before the government for up to 10 years without any solution.

The Union said government has not made any provision to disinfect campuses against Covid-19 pandemic and wants the students to resume. Ogirima said no provision is made by government to comply with Covid-19 safety protocols which makes resumption dangerous for students.

He said the union will however suspend all services in the various colleges of Education across the country adding that ranges of its action will affect the federal government across the six geopolitical zones.
