Nigerian youths have been called upon to join hands in sensitizing other youths in their various communities on the need to accept the vaccine against Covid-19.
The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Garba Abari made the call at the pre-media briefing of the Agency youth summit on Wednesday in Abuja.
The Director General who was represented by Director, Public Enlightenment and Mobilisation, Ruth Ogun noted that recent statistics have shown that many youths believe that only the elderly persons are at fatal risk to Covid-19 infection.
She stressed the need for young people to take responsibility by adhering to the Covid-19 safety guidelines for the protection of all.
The National Orientation Agency said the National Youth Summit will provide a veritable platform of engagement with the youth on key National issues that are of utmost concern to them and come up with ways to effectively address them.
NOA said it intends to make the National summit an annual event to keep issues that affect youths on the front burner of National discourse thereby generating feedback for government.
According to the DG, the summit will help address the rampant cases of youth agitation and close the gap between government and its citizen. It will also build confidence of the youths in governance process.
